Well, you can experience this phenomenon next year! There will be a smoking ban at all pubs, clubs and restaurants in England from the Summer of 2007. The total ban will extend to all enclosed areas except private homes, residential care homes, hospitals, prisons and hotel bedrooms.

Well, as always there are two sides: On the one hand I like the efforts to reduce smoking. On the other hand, I don´t like the strict law and the punishments which accompany these new regulations. Why not simply establish ´non smoking´ and ´smokers welcome´ pubs ?
I suffer from asthma and welcome the new laws. I have been to London a few times and even though many restaurants were divided into "smoking" and "no smoking" sections, the smoke was always everywhere and it was very unpleasant. People can always have a cigarette outside if they want!
